Author Bio

Rabbi Marc Rubenstein is a Hebrew scholar, author, and pioneer in interfaith marriages. Rabbi Rubenstein attended the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, as well as American University in Washington, D.C., where he earned his B.A. degree in Religion and History Studies. He also received rabbinical training from the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York City, and has now officiated over 3,000 weddings. He is working on his next book, Oni and the Kingdom of Onion, a children’s book to be released in Fall 2018 . He now lives in Temecula, California with his wife. Contact him directly at (714) 904-8522 to schedule an appointment, wedding consultation, spiritual advice, life-cycle events, or speaking engagements.

Novel Inspiration

Rabbi Marc believes that each wedding should be as special and unique as the couple. This novel was born out of the idea that religious tradition and spirituality can be united in a wedding ceremony that celebrates the couple as much as the religious faith(s).

Interfaith Families

Interfaith marriage is becoming much more common. Times have changed. These unions should be celebrated as a progressive and valuable institution. Please consult the organization Interfaith Family for additional resources and suggestions on an interfaith wedding.

Real Life Character Inspiration

The expression "Write what you know" has been applied throughout the novel. I have also written about who I know. I have met many wonderful people who have inspired characters in the novel. Thank you to Amanda, Christina, and especially Hilda Gordon Cherney. Hilda is no longer with us, but her spirit lives on in the character of Hillie Gordon.
